Joy in the Journey bio picture

Hiya

So....um....about me....well...let's see...

I LOVE people!

I LOVE stories!

I LOVE meeting new people!

I LOVE taking pictures of people!

BUT most of all I LOVE getting to meet new people, photograph them, become friends and watch their children grow!

SO this is a blog of all of the friends that I have made and get to watch grow!  So take a look around and leave a comment or two so I can get to know YOU!

Mr. L is one….| Paradise Valley newborn photographer| Scottsdale newborn photographer

I have had the pleasure of watching Mr. L grow up this year…it has been such a treat.  We surprised him with some birthday balloons and he was so thrilled!

baby with balloons in crib

Dad was able to pop in for a second during the shoot and this is one of my ALL – time favorite father/son images ever! You can truly see how much little “L” will grow up to look just like Papa…I am so greatful for this shot and I think I may have to try it with my boys!

dad and son

I asked my super sweet friend Cassie of Cakes by Cassie to make a simple small cake for Mr. “L” so he could take it and smash it…and he totally enjoyed smashing it!

little boy with cake and balloons, first birthday

This last week has been a little cuckoo in the Goodman home as I have had three family members in the hospital this week. My hubby and father both had major surgeries and so emails and work related stuff was halted for awhile.  I have so many beautiful images that I can’t wait to share with you!

butterfly baby….|chandler newborn photographer| phoenix newborn photographer

When I first talked to Mrs. L…mother of Miss S…she said that for her newborn mini session she really wanted to incorporate butterflies somehow into her shoot. I thought about it for quite awhile and figured out exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to make sure that the feel of the picture was very classy and classic in nature so that it would withstand the test of time and not look dumb in 10 years. I truly want for my work to have a classic appeal and not feel too trendy but be able to look amazing in a couple years or a hundred years.

Here is the result of our labors and I say “our” because “S”’s mom and dad helped me arrange and put the butterflies up….it was a little tricky and they were super helpers. :)

I LOVE this shot so very much…

Miss S is a stunning little baby and has super long arms and legs like her daddy which made it super easy to mold her…baby with butterflies

I have quite a few smiley pictures but I saved those for her gallery. The next image makes me giggle just a wee bit. I am known for using all kinds of fun fabrics on my babies and the next “blanket” was actually some very cute stretchy pants that my sis in law gave me….they were exactly what I needed for the shot that I had in mind.

The whole family came to watch me photograph Miss S and I THROUGHLY enjoyed chatting with them…it was a fun day for me and I can’t wait to watch this baby grow through my camera! Mom has the most AMAZING blue eyes and I am REALLY hoping that Miss S gets those eyes….I LOVE this image in color but in black and white it just melts me…happy familyAll of these images were taken in my home studio during a newborn mini session. I LOVE being able to shoot in my home and the amazing light that I am blessed to have even a cloudy day!

* a little housekeeping note…my Holiday Schedule is filling up. I will be having Mansion Mini Sessions on  Saturday Sept. 25th and I am hoping to open them up this week. If you would like to grab a spot before they open please leave a comment or email me. I also only have 2 Saturdays left in my Holiday schedule as well. It  is booking up SUPER fast. I will only be shooting families during the months of September  and October. November will be reserved for maternity clients and newborns. I will not be shooting in December at all so that I can chill with my family during the holidays.  I still have a couple spots left in my October and November birthday mini sessions. There will not be a September Birthday mini Session day as I don’t have any free Saturday’s left! I will be out of town quite a bit in September and October and will update the blog when I am gone.

This next week I will be at the hospital all week with a family member. I am hoping to be able to work while there but emails may take a little longer to reply too. Thanks so much for your understanding.

08/29/2010 - 8:31 pm Mrs. L - Sarah was such a pleasure to work with. Her creativity and artistic eye is exactly what we were looking for to photograph our first child, little Miss S. I would absolutely recommend Sarah Goodman to anyone looking for a infant photographer!!

08/29/2010 - 11:50 am Evan Ryan - Unbelievable! these pictures are amazing! Of course, the baby is so beautiful she makes it easy but the creativity is great.

08/29/2010 - 10:21 am Gina Oh | Gina Maxine Photography - beautiful!! it's very difficult to make it look timeless, but you obviously nailed it!

08/29/2010 - 2:37 am ck - very beautiful pictures

08/29/2010 - 12:18 am Jessica - LOVE the butterflies! you are so dang creative, girl!

This single image makes me wish that I could go back and rewind when my 2nd son was born 10.5 years ago and take an image like this. It just melts my heart.

08/25/2010 - 2:28 am Julie - I SO agree, Sarah! Such beautiful boys, and SUCH a precious photo!

Special! | LA newborn photographer

Last Tuesday I had the pleasure of flying to LA to capture a sweet couple’s second baby. It is truly a thrill for me to watch families grow and to see who each child ends up looking like. And it is always especially sweet to be able to photograph a second child being born to a family just two years after a first was born. It just really warms my heart. Their first baby was such a good little guy and smiled at me and stared at me and was so quiet. And this next little dude is equally as good…and he turned out to be a bit chunkier.

At the beginning of the day we played with Dad…a little bit of baseball and a lot of swinging…his favorite…

boy swinging

we had a couple snacks and then it was time to hang out with the new baby. He was a super happy toddler and loved playing peek a boo with me later in the day…

happy little boy

And little brother just stared at me so sweetly…which is  SO RARE with newborns.

I think this little guy looks more like momma and her side of the family and I can’t wait to see what he looks like as he grows.

Stay tuned for more images of this baby as well as the Holiday Schedule. Also…I will be traveling to the Dallas/Fort Worth area in September as well as the Austin, TX area. Please email me if you would like to book a shoot in either city.

Birthday Mini Sessions | Phoenix Birthday Photographer

I am IN LOVE with the birthday mini sessions. They are SO much fun for me and for the kiddos involved. And…well…I think the parents enjoy watching me be a bit goofy with their kids too! SO….fun for all! I had 9 fun children come over recently and each child made me smile and think how lucky I am to have my camera wrapped around my neck.

I held this next young girl right after she was born….her papa was our best man at our wedding. She is a sweet girl and I think that she is so delightfully beautiful on the outside and the inside. She is such a genuinely kind soul and I can’t wait to watch her grow.

young girl This little guy has been photographed by my cameras since day one! The picture of him with his dad and brothers is one of my all time favorites. I will have to dig it up sometime to show you! This little guy is a twinner and so full of energy!

blonde boyHere is Mr. K’s twin….don’t worry…I have lots of smiling shots of him but I couldn’t resist this frown…it totally made me smile!

frowny little boy

And here is the fun older brother of these twinners….he is gonna be one big HEARTBREAKER when he gets older.boy in blue shirtAll three of them had us on our toes!

blonde boys with cupcakesThis little cookie had just had eye surgery a couple days before but you can hardly tell here. She was such a sweet and tender little girl and then once she was comfy with me she started laying on some sass and that is when I got this!

little girlHer brother was so much fun and was my first subject that morning…he was such a trooper!

boy in orangeMr. Birthday man here was quite amused by me and all of my silly antics…I guess he is not used to people being so goofy so fast. He just kept looking at me like I was crazy….so my plan totally worked and I got the smiles I was needing! :)

boy eating cupcakeThis has to be one of my favorite fun shots of the day! Stay tuned for more of Mr. M!

boy with glasses eating cupcakeMeet Mr. Shy….truly…

He was one of the shyest kids I have had in a long while…in fact…momma is holding his hand in this shot. After about 5 minutes he was in love with me and it was all good!

little boy in green shirt smiling

So there you have it…the birthday mini sessions. I have MORE images coming tomorrow. So….if your child is celebrating their birthday from here to December…email me to sign up for a session. They are SUCH a great deal.  Sessions are $95 and include a FREE 11×14 and a YUMMY cupcake  from Cakes by Cassie to nosh on!

OH…and I almost forgot….I have arranged to have Holiday Mini Sessions at a MANSION this year! It’s going to be SO great. My Mini Sessions ALWAYS sell out so if you are not currently on my newsletter list you can email me to get on it and be the first to hear about the Fall Holiday Schedule! Email me at info@sarahgoodmanphotography.com to get all the details and to be added to the newsletter list.

If you would like a full session I am currently booking for the Fall. I only have a couple Saturdays left in October.

08/05/2010 - 3:17 pm Michelle Horne - Her picture took my breath away...and yes, I am tearing up! Who said Kylie could grow up? The picture is absolutely beautiful. Thank you, Sarah. You're the best!

Miss V | Cave Creek Newborn Photographer | Scottsdale Newborn Photographer | Phoenix Baby Packages

Miss V was only 7 days old when I got to visit her at her home. Mom and Dad definitely have a taste for fun furniture and colors which made my job super easy. Every where I turned there was a fun place to shoot. I will get to watch Miss V grow every step of the way this year too! Mom purchased one of my packages that allows me to come and photograph every 3 months. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE to watch the baby’s plump up, fill out, start to crawl and then get to see them walk. It is such a treat for me.

I knew that Miss V’s mom was going to be fun to hang with when big sister opened the door and was thrilled to show me all of her fun toys. I even got my hand painted before I left. Big sister is quite the artist and designer. She had me giggling the whole morning. She had some fun ideas for pictures and even broke out her camera to take a couple images of her baby sister too. I am excited to see what she comes up with for the next shoot!

Miss V was a smiley baby and SO very content.

girl laying on a bedI got some funny sibling shots but these two are some of my favorites that really show how similar the girls look even though they have different color hair. I love comparing and seeing what features siblings have in common…it is so amazing to me to see how each person is created so differently and yet siblings have so many similar features.

MR. L |Paradise Valley newborn photographer |Paradise Valley baby photographer

I am so very LUCKY….I get to see Mr. “L”  and the “W” family every 3 months. His mom purchased one of my baby plans where I get the opportunity to photograph him every couple of months and watch him grow. It has been so amazing for me and fun to see the changes that he has made. He is a super funny little guy and when he grins it just takes up is whole face.

Usually when I get to see him we are waiting for him to wake up from his morning nap. He is always super smiley fresh from his nap.
